Manaslu Region is an immense and diverse Himalayan region in the mountains of Nepal. It is home to the most tranquility and unspoiled nature. The region has recently opened to outsiders, so, it is also the least traveled other trekking regions of Nepal. It holds several trekking trails while covering nature and the ecosystem at the lap of the mountain. Among the most well-known and traveled by trekkers, Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek stands as an exceptional journey to cover the adventure and the beauty of the Himalayas.
Manaslu region has its name from the eighth highest peak in the world Mt. Manaslu with an elevation of 8163m. So, the region of the peak holds the proper mountain elevation and its ecosystem to be on the bucket list of most travel enthusiasts. It drives them to the majestic landscapes of the upper mountain region of Nepal and its diverse combination of flora and fauna. The region is also very popular for holding the ethnic cultures that are preserved by the people residing there for a long ago.
So, the trek of Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is designed by focusing on the elements of traveling that are found inside the region. It is more concentrated on the point of a very beautiful valley called the Tsum Valley which lies between the laps of high hills and some of the highest peaks in the world. The itinerary follows the 21 days of continuous traveling which follows the trail and the routes inside the Manaslu region to form an exceptional traveling journey. The itinerary of this trek all starts upon your arrival at the airport. You will find one of our office representatives waiting for you or our staff to pick you up from there at TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport). They will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. From there you can have some time for refreshment or use the remaining time to explore the streets of the Kathmandu Valley and try out some of the local foods out there.
You will get your overnight stay in a hotel in Kathmandu.
On the second day of this itinerary, you will get a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. It is itself a very diverse course of traveling as it holds enormous sites that mention the historical and traditional values in themselves. So, we are only focusing on some of the UNESCO-listed sites in the World heritage.
You will get a visit to the Pashupatinath Temple, a very holy and sacred place for Hindu people. There you will see Hindu devotees from all over the world having pilgrimages, and very strange rituals. After the Pashupatinath, you will be taken to the Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is an ancient city. There you will get the sight of old palaces and temples, which were built by different rulers and kings in the past. There you will witness the amazing culture of the Newari people and the ancient architecture.
After Durbar Square, the sightseeing tour moves to the Swayambhunath temple, a very devoted stupa of Buddhists. It is located at the hillock from where you can have the sightseeing panorama of the whole Kathmandu valley. There you also see the different art and crafts at the sale around the temple.
On this day after breakfast, we will be moving to Maccha kh0ola via drive through the mid-hill road of Nepal. It approximately takes us the drive time of about 8 hours from Kathmandu Valley to get there in Maccha Khola.
The road passes through places like Arughat, and Teri Besi to get bumpy roads to reach Maccha Khola.
Your stay will be in Maccha Khola.
From today, we will begin our actual trekking journey as we will move towards Jagat, after breakfast. The trail goes ascending and descending alongside the Khorlabesi and through the Tatopani. In Tatopani, you can have a look at the decent natural hot spring.
After crossing the Budhi Gandaki through the suspension Bridge, you will get a forest trail that again goes through Dovan Khola, which takes us to the Budhi Gandaki Valley, and have some ascend to get there in Jagat.
There is Jagat, you will get your overnight stay.
With the fresh morning bin Jagat, we will start the journey from there after having a local breakfast. The trail starts to get a little rocky and rough on its way to Chisopani. The beginning ascend takes us to the Salleri and another descent from there takes us to the Sirdibas and goes up to the Ghatta Khola.
Through the Ghatta Khola, we will ascend to Philim, a very beautiful and pretty large Gurung village, from where you will get a stunning view of Sringi Himal. After some another ascend we will arrive at the Chisopani.
The overnight stay will be there in Chisopani.
Another ascend will be waiting for us from Chisopani to Chumling. So, after breakfast, we will begin our journey towards Chumling. The trail crosses through the gorge, where after that it goes through the waterfall. You will also get a journey out of rhododendron and pine forest.
We continue our trek to get there in Lokpa Village, from where we descend via Gumlung to get there in Chumling. It is also known as Lower Tsum Valley.
Overnight stay will be there in a local guest house in Chumling.
After chumling, our next point will be to get there in Chhokangparo. It is the way to open up the way to Upper Tsum Valley. From there with a little ascend we will drive up to the Tsum Valley in our footsteps. Upon arriving at Tsum Valley, we will get to see a flat land with a small settlement of ethnic people of the Himalayas. It is comparatively a small flat land between two big hills of Chhekam and Paro.
From there you can have a stunning view of Ganesh Himal, with the spectacular following range of Himal chuli. More amazingly, what you can witness is the ethnic community living there with limited resources along their culture. They also rely on farming at such altitudes with the traditional methods. It is one of the best and the most beautiful valleys among the settlements in the mountain region of the Himalayas.
After some time there, we will be following our footsteps towards Chhokangparo exploring the valley. After having some ascending path we will arrive at the Nile/Chhule. It lies along the western side of Shiar Khola. There at a little distance, we can have a Piren Phu cave which is also popularly known as Pigeon Cave. It is believed to be a sacred cave for the people of Tsum Valley. It is located on a rough cliff near the village of Burji. A very famous Tibetan saint is believed to have meditated here in the past.
After the cave, the trail follows us to several local gompas, murals, and mane walls to get there in Chhokangparo. While arriving there you will witness the massive prayer flags on the way.
The overnight stay will be managed at the village of Chhokangparo.
On the morning of the eighth day of our itinerary, we will ascend from the Chhokangparo, for our next destination of the Nile. Through the small village and several tiny settlements, we will head towards the ridge of Chortens. Until there you will already have a massive and magnificent view of the landscapes of mountain geography. On the arrival of Lama Gaon, you will witness the farming field above the altitude of 3000m. From there in distance, we will arrive at the Rache Gompa. From there we will cross the Shiyar Khola, passing through the Phurbe and Pangdun. After that, the larger village will arrive. It is the villahge of Chhule.
From there we head towards the Nile. Throughout the way, you will see the people and children all wearing traditional dresses. While arriving at the Nile we will be still at the touch part of Tsum Valley.
The overnight stay will be at Nile.
From the Nile, the trail starts to ascend towards the biggest monastery of the Manaslu region. The monastery of Mu Gumpa. It holds a large sum of historical and religious significance. It was established in 1895 AD. It is also located in the remotest part of Nepal, with the images and spiritual values of the Himalayan people. We will be visiting the monastery.
The overnight will be there in Mu Gompa.
With the morning breakfast at Mu Gompa, we will head towards the Ranchen Gompa trail crossing the Shier Khola. We will be walking beside the Tibet border. Until there is arrival in Ranchen Gompa, we will be crossing through several terrains and rocky cliffs. Ranchen Gompa is the largest nunnery in the Region.
You will have your overnight there in Ranchen Gompa.
From Ranchen Gompa we will be having a massive descent in altitude to get there in Deng. The trail is full of stunning scenery and the spectacular beauty of mountain geography. To descend to Deng it nearly takes us a trek of about 8 hours from Ranchen Gompa.
After arriving in Deng, we will manage an overnight stay in a local guesthouse.
Overnights at Deng will be the midpoint of this trek as we are at the halfway point to finish the itinerary. So, after breakfast, we will begin our trek to the next point on our map for the village of Namrung. To get in the Namrung, the trail is full of mane walls, prayer flags, prayer stones, and carved stones with the Holy Scriptures, so this day is going to be more spiritual.
After the spiritual ascending route we will arrive at the village of Namrung.
From Namrung, we will head towards the Lho Ghan, after breakfast. The trail goes inside the alpine forest through the uphill climb. You will start to get the massive and stunning glimpse of Manaslu, from there. It will take us to get there between 4 hours of trek.
The overnight stay will be there in Lho Ghan.
After the Lho Ghan, the samagaon will be waiting for us. So, we will start our trek after breakfast. Again the trail is full of Mani walls and the prayer flags. You will also witness the Pungen Glaciers on the way to the Samagaon. After some distance, we will arrive at Samagaon.
We will be staying there at Samagaon for a night.
Today we will be staying at the Samagaon for the acclimatization for the higher altitude. From the next day after leaving the elevation starts to climb up above the elevation of 4000m plus from the sea level. So, the rest of the day can be used as refreshment and the rest on its own. You can also explore the ethnic village of Samagaon. There is a wide choice of local foods and dishes to try out for. It would be an amazing experience to have the test of the local food in their origin places.
And after the afternoon we will conduct a short hike to Birendra Tal to see the glaciers with it. Birendra Tal is another beautiful lake, which sits at the lap of Mt. Manaslu. It will be a great view to have a fresh lake down the glacier of Manaslu.
The overnight will be at a guesthouse.
After breakfast, we will continue our trek with the gradual climbing of the uphill trail. The trail comes with a majestic view of the mountain peaks. It will take us to the Samdo, which is a Tibetan refugee village.
After having some further walks and crossing the streams and some rough paths we will arrive at the Larkya Bazer. It was a trading point with the trade with Tibet. From there with more further ascend of an hour we will arrive at the Dharamshala.
The night stay will be there in Dharamshala in a guesthouse.
Today the walk will be a little longer than the other days as we will pass through the proper Himalayan terrains. The trail through the terrains offers us a panorama view of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Gyagi Kung, Kang Koru, and Annapurna Himal. We will have a massive ascend and descend to get there in Bhimphedi.
The overnight walk will be there at Bhimphedi in a local guest house.
Today there will be a massive fall in altitude as we will be de3scentring towards the Tilije. It covers nearly 3000m of altitude to get there in Tilije. The trail is full of forest downhill, through the Rhododendron and pine forest. The journey of this day will be of a great passing through several natural features.
The overnight stay will be at the Tilije in a guesthouse.
Today will be the last walking trek of this Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek. After the local breakfast in Tilij, we will again descend to Chamje. The trail for today goes through the ridges. The trail will be stone-paved to Dharapani. Until there several small settlements and villages arrive in the way. We will also walk across the Thonje village crossing the Dhud koshi.
After the Dudh Koshi, we will enter the Annapurna Sacutarary, another diverse region of Nepal for trekking. From there we will arrive at the Karte village, and with some further walking, we will cross the popular Marshyangdi River. Recently after crossing the river, you will see the village of Tal and a beautiful big waterfall coming down the mountain region, then we will arrive at the Chamje.
We will stay there for the overnight.
Today our itinerary will be at the end with the drive back to Kathmandu. We will walk a little from Chamje to Beshisahar. From there you will get a pick from a private vehicle to get there in Kathmandu.
It will take us 8 hours of driving to get there through the mid-hill road. You can enjoy the view and the great scenery while you are at drive.
After arriving in Kathmandu, you will be dropped at the hottest. There you can have some rest or have some fun at Thamel nightlife before your departure.
In the evening you will join the farewell dinner orgainsed by Hike Holiday Treks.
Your overnight stay will be at a hotel In Kathmandu.
You will get a farewell in the morning in your Hotel and you will be picked up from there to get you to the TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport). From there you are ending your trek officially and get your departure from there.

The menu for foods will be more concentrated with the local foods which consist of Dal Bhat Tarkari, momo, chow mein, eggs, and other varieties of items. You will not that often get any of your favorite Western dishes as Manaslu is still a new trail in the trekking world and there are no such restaurants that provide services related to Western dishes.

Do compromise with the basic services provided to the lodges there in the Manaslu Tsum Valley trek as they all run with limited resources. All the goods are transported with the help of animals as there are no means of road transport there. So, they are unable to provide you with standard services like what you get inside the Kathmandu Valley.
Also, the prices of products and goods can be found more expensive than their marked price, so we recommend you not to get into arguments with locals as they also have very limited opportunity to earn some money and you know all the goods are taken by humans and animals.

As we talked about above, this trekking of Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is a very diverse journey as well as more remote. So, you need to have prepared for the journey itinerary of about 21 days. So, it is not only heeded, it is necessary to stick with a proper plan and preparation before the trek.
Always prepare with the clothing as you are going to have a long journey over the remote part of Nepal. You may need more clothing than you think. So plan properly and carry as much as you think can hold you for a whole journey.
