Feeling Adventurous? Then join in to trade the ordinary for the extraordinary by conquering the heights of Lobuche Peak.
Lobuche Peak also known as “Lobuje” is a popular mountain in the Khumbu region for its two incredible summits: Lobuche East (6119 meters) and Lobuche West (6145 meters). While Lobuche East Peak is famous as a trekking peak, Lobuche West is considered an expedition peak. Thus, Lobuche East Peak is one of the highly desired peaks for trekking and peak climbing.
It is a moderately difficult to challenging journey however it is not among the most technically demanding peaks in the Himalayas. In this journey, climbers descend carefully carved paths and ascend steep snowy slopes to reach the summit of the peak. It is a high-altitude climb, thus ascent involves long hours of trekking, steep climbs, and the physical exertion of high-altitude mountaineering.
Despite the strenuous journey, it is truly worthwhile. It is fused with world-famous Everest Base Camp Trek. First, we follow the trail to EBC, meandering through forestry paths, and quaint Sherpa towns, and then we initiate the hike of Lobuche Peak. From the top of the peak, you are greeted with breathtaking panoramic scenes of iconic Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and more. At the top, with an awe-inspiring view, trekkers are filled with a profound sense of accomplishment.
Besides the Himalayan delights, the journey is equally about immersing oneself in warm Sherpa culture, exploring historical monasteries, and traversing quaint towns. This adventure is not just about climbing; it’s a daring rendezvous with mountain climbing, a journey that beckons the bold and the brave.
Lobuche Peak Climbing is a stunning, albeit tough, peak climbing excursion that you can undertake if you wish to have a thrilling experience in the ivory terrains of the country’s Himalayas. You can choose between Mera Peak and Island Peak Climbing. So, if you see yourself scaling a mountain, certainly opt for the amazing adventure amidst the heart of the Himalayas. Our expert team at Hike Holiday Treks is ready to turn your dreams into reality!
One of our team members shall be waiting for you at the airport upon your arrival to bring you to your designated hotel. At the hotel, we will briefly go over the plan and the journey, and afterward, there is no planned schedule so you may utilize the rest of the day as per your wish.
Today, we prepare for the trek. We go over the essentials necessary for the trek. Whatever is not essential, we can leave it at the hotel and retrieve it after the journey
Today, we are flying to Lukla. Due to congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport, we will take a flight to Lukla from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap. We will wake early in the morning around 2 AM and hop on the waiting vehicle to drive to Ramechhap. We will get on the earliest flight available and enjoy a scenic flight to Lukla. After arrival at Lukla, we will resume our journey and officially begin our trek to Phakding.
We depart lovely Phakding and follow the trail along the Dudh Koshi River. Meandering through lush and dense forests of rhododendron, pine, and juniper trees, you will also find yourself walking through bamboo grooves and diverse flora and fauna. We bypass locals working in the field, allowing us a glimpse into their rural lifestyle. We eventually reach the vibrant town of Namche nestled in the lap of colossal Himalayan wonders
We have set this day as an acclimatization day. To get well adapted to the changing elevation, we spent this day exploring the highlights around Namche Bazaar. First, we walk to Syanboche airport and then climb to the world’s highest hotel- Everest View Hotel at 3700 meters above sea level. We enjoy a delicious breakfast with a breathtaking Everest massif in the backdrop. After admiring the beautiful Himalayan scenery, we descend to the town and visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and Everest Photo Gallery to learn more about the region’s history, its people, and its rich culture.
We leave beautiful Namche and head for Tengboche- another significant town in Everest Valley. The same and simple path takes us to see Mount Everest. We go down into the Dudh Koshi Valley at a place called Pungki Thanka, then go up the right side of the valley to Tengboche Monastery, which is at 3860 meters. This monastery is very important to the people who live here. It will be a long journey but the beautiful views of Mount Amadablam and, if the weather is good, Mount Everest and the other mountains around it, make it worth it.
Today, we hike towards Dingboche, a pasture land for grazing sheep, goats, and yaks. We reach Dingboche by making a descent through a lovely forest and crossing the Imja Khola. We walk past Pangboche and reach our final destination. The sights of the mountains will get more prominent as we approach our destination.
We have set this day as another acclimatization day. As we have already scaled quite an elevation, it is important to adjust to the altitude. On this day, we can go for an optional hike to Nagerjun Hill for more awe-inspiring scenery. The hill is also known as Chukkung Ri as it lies in Chukkung Valley.
Heading towards Lobuche, we gradually descend towards Dughla and then continue along the moraine of Khumbu glacier to Lobuche. On the way, we enjoy even more spectacular sights of Nuptse, Everest, and other surrounding peaks.
Today, we have a long day ahead. We start the day with a hike to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep. From Base Camp, we admire amazing vistas of the neighboring peaks. The journey is tough but the incredible views make it all worth it. After gushing over the magnificent scenery, we hike down to Gorakshep.
Early in the morning, we get up to hike Kalapatthar to witness the amazing sunrise over the Everest massif. Kalapatthar is the best vantage point to watch the best view of Everest along with other surrounding giants. From this vantage point, the entire south face of Everest is more prominent, and a 360-degree view of the Himalayas makes it worth waking up early in the morning. After that, we descend to Gorakshep where we will have a hearty breakfast and continue our journey towards Lobuche Base Camp. This marks the official beginning of the other most awaited part of the trek. At the base Camp, our expert climbing guide will teach you some tips and techniques for using climbing gears such as crampons, ice axes, harnesses, ropes, and more. Additionally, they will also teach how to follow the trail thus it is of utmost importance to follow their guidance.
Another long day is ahead for us. We begin the summit early in the morning. With careful guidance from the climbing guide, we summit the Lobuche Peak. From the summit, you get unapparelled scenery of the Himalayas never seen before. Standing atop, you get to see an up-close view of Everest, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Khumbu glacier, and more. It is a pure thrill and a chance to immerse in the raw beauty and grandeur of the Himalayas. After the successful summit, we hike down to base camp and ultimately take to trail to Pheriche.
This day is set as a contingency day for uncertain weather and unforeseen conditions. However, if things go smoothly as planned, we shall not need this day and continue to trek.
We are heading for Namche and today’s journey encompasses a varied terrain and experience. Beginning with a tranquil stroll along the Imja Khola river, trekkers ascend to Tengboche and then descend to Pungki Thanka where the trail becomes steep and more rugged. Following this descent, the hike leads to Kyangjuma, and finally to Namche Bazaar.
The trek proceeds alongside the Dudh Kosi River, leading to the quaint mountain airstrip of Lukla.
Today, we fly back to Kathmandu. We take the earliest available flight to Manthali airport at Ramechhap and from there drive back to Kathmandu. This part of the journey offers scenic views of the river and surrounding landscape as you make your way back to Lukla, marking the conclusion of your trekking adventure in the Everest region.
In evening attending the farewell dinner hosted by Hike Holiday Treks.
This is a leisure day so may spend resting, exploring the shops and restaurants around the city.
