Join us on an epic adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna with Hike Holiday Treks. One of the best walks in the world, Annapurna Circuit Trek is an amalgamation of adventure and cultural exposure. Moreover, this trek delivers the best of what the Annapurna region has to offer- the soaring spires, and varied landscapes from arid to the lush green forest to centuries-old intriguing cultures.
Also, popular as Annapurna Round Trek, the adventure begins in the subtropical valleys of Jagat and ends at the serene city of Lakes- Pokhara. Throughout the journey, you walk with the majestic vistas of Annapurna massif in the background, while you meander through verdant forests and terraced fields. Another highlight of the journey is traversing through traditional and ethnic towns of the Annapurna region, exploring the monasteries that adorn these towns. Along with a rich cultural experience, you get the thrill of adrenaline rush pumping through your veins when you walk through narrow paths beside the steep hills that directly fall to Kali Gandaki Gorge.
Moreover, one of the most exciting parts of this trek is its ever-changing terrain. From the lush forest to the alpine meadows and arid high-altitude deserts, the trek is a visual treat. The towering peaks of Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, magnificently surround you through the journey. The vistas become even more stunning, when you get to the top of the Thorang-La pass at 5416 meters. Reaching the vantage point of the pass, itself is a challenge as it is one of the highest mountain passes in the world. Nevertheless, the view is worth every step you take to reach to summit.
Besides the natural allure, exploring the charming towns of different ethnic communities is another perk of the trek. Mostly inhabited by Gurungs and Thakalis, the villages showcase ancient customs and traditions. Also, trekkers have the unique opportunity to engage with the local communities, experiencing their warmth and hospitality while gaining insight into their daily lives.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is demanding but at the same time a deeply enriching experience. It tests endurance and resilience, rewarding those who undertake it with profound moments of reflection and a deep connection to nature. The trek’s challenging paths and high altitudes are balanced by the simplicity and purity of life in the mountains, where the beauty of each day is found in the small, often overlooked details.
As the trek near its end, the path again descends to the subtropical regions. You have a sense of accomplishment with the bittersweet realization that the journey is coming to an end. The memories forged on the Annapurna Circuit—of towering peaks, serene landscapes, and the indomitable spirit of the mountain people—linger long after the trek is over, leaving a lasting mark on the hearts of those who have walked its paths. The Annapurna Circuit is more than a trek; it is a pilgrimage to the soul of the Himalayas, a celebration of nature’s grandeur and the enduring spirit of humanity.
One of our office representatives will meet you at TIA and escort you to your designated hotel. Once there, we will briefly review our travel plans. Afterward, you are free to spend the rest of the day as you wish.
Today we will take a Car to Besi Sahar. The ride is full of the scenery of villages, rivers, and hills. After reaching Besi Sahar, we will officially start our journey to Jagat through Bhulbule, Ngadi, and more villages. The approach to Bhulbule offers spectacular views of Himalchuli and Ngadi Chuli. As soon as you reach Bhulbule, you enter the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is also a checkpoint of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). After a few more of a hike through the rugged path, we reach Jagat, where we will be spending the night.
We start the day early on and take the trails along the Marshayangdi River. Today, we will be walking with views of high waterfalls and leaving behind villages like Kanigoan, Ghermu, and more. From Ghermu, we descend to Syange and cross a suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River. The trail then climbs to steeply and crosses a cliff face to the stone village of Jagat, perched strategically in a steep-sided valley and looking for all the world like the toll station for the Tibetan salt trade. From here, the path continues to Chamje following the forested trail. The rocky trail crosses the Marsyangdi River again, then follows the valley steadily uphill to Tal, the first village in the Manang district. Traversing past Tal, we walk to another village of Karte before reaching our final destination, Dharapani.
We have another long day ahead. We leave the town of Dharapani and walk past Bagarchap and Danaque. The trail climbs steeply from Danaque to Timang and then continues through a forest of pine and fir, past the traditional village of Thanchowk to Koto, at the junction of Nar-Phu Valley. We follow the trail decorated with large mani walls, prayer flags, stupas, and chortens, before stopping at Chame. The journey up here is not easy but the stunning views of Annapurna II and other snow-capped peaks will make it worth it.
We have another beautiful day of hiking. Our trail for today runs through a deep forest in a steep and narrow valley. The views of the peaks get even better and better and it will accompany you throughout the day until you reach the beautiful village of Pisang.
Today, we will notice a change in physical terrain because we will be walking through the drier upper part of Manang district. It is rain-shadow rain and thus gets very little precipitation. We walk past several picturesque villages again, witnessing their unique way of life, and we reach Manang.
It is important to spend a day acclimatizing in Manang before pushing on to Thorang La. There are many places one could go for walks and also spectacular sights around the villages. One could go for a hike to Praken Gompa to view Gangapurna Glacier or go for a hike to Milarepa cave.
We depart from Manang and make our way to Yak Kharka. The path steadily ascends through Tengi and Gunsang, moving out of the Marsyangdi Valley and into the Jarsang Khola Valley. The greenery gets considerably sparse as we move closer to Yak Kharka.
We’ll head to Thorong Phedi, a bustling village that accommodates weary hikers and climbers like us and frequently acts as a base camp for people planning to ascend the mountain the following day. We have a tough day ahead of us, however some may choose to go to High Camp today to ease the route tomorrow. We will stay at Thorong Phedi to guarantee a nice night’s sleep, choosing safety and sound sleep over the unknowns of High Camp’s greater elevation.
Today, we have a challenging day ahead of us. We will be crossing Thorang La Pass, which is one of the highest mountain passes in the world. The trail climbs steeply but is well-used and easy to follow. The climb is demanding but worthwhile as the view from the top of the Annapurnas, along the great barrier to the barren Kali Gandaki Valley- is magnificent. From the pass, we make a slippery descent to Muktinath.
Muktinath is a popular site for followers of Hinduism and Buddhism. The place shelters important monasteries as well as temples hence seeing a lot of pilgrims every day. After visiting the shrines and other religious sites, we take the route towards the medieval-looking village of Kagbeni. From Kagbeni, it is a dusty, rocky but mostly flat stroll along the road to Jomsom. Here you can observe the Thakali community and appreciate the beautiful setting that surrounds you.
We will take the earliest flight available for Pokhara. It is a 20-minute flight journey and after reaching Pokhara, you can explore the serene town surrounded by massive hills and backed by a gigantic Annapurna range.
We return to Kathmandu from Pokhara and on the drive, we appreciate the passing villages and the scenery that surrounds them. In the evening, you’ll join the farewell dinner hosted by Hike Holiday Treks, where you’ll receive your achievement certificate in recognition of your trekking journey
One of our team members will meet you at the hotel about 3 hours before your flight time to escort you to the airport. We will say our goodbyes and look forward to our next journey together in the Himalayas of Nepal.
